A huge thanks to Claire and Judith who have donated some much needed office supplies - if anyone can help in any way shape or form from donating raffle prizes to helping fund raise or donate items to help with the running it will all be very welcomed

okay not quite lol - my dad has just got back off holiday from dubai where he got talking to a lady from Fareham who knew about Mums On The Move so big hello to you :) small world

New walk routes

We will be sorting out new walk routes over the next couple of weeks after requests for longer walks

If anyone knows of any good walks or locations please let us know so we can incorporate them for you

We are also trying to sort out a summer holiday timetable of events to include the walk talks/ picnics etc for the whole family/friends whatever the age - the plan have a picnic a talk and then the walk

Again any ideas let any of us know so we can plan them for you

Mums on the move

�Mums on the Move� is a new initiative organised by a group of local mums who attend The Merryfields Children�s Centre and is supported by Fareham Borough Council. Launching at Merryfields Childrens�s Centre, St Annes Grove, Fareham, on Wednesday 11 March at 1.30pm (no booking required) �Mums on the Move� aims to improve both physical and mental wellbeing without the worry of childcare arrangements.

The new programme of free walks has been created to provide the opportunity for anyone who has or looks after young children (whether the child can walk or is in a pushchair) to walk along designated safe, pushchair friendly routes together, with other parents and child carers.

Executive Member for Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: �This great new programme will give the opportunity for anyone who looks after children (not just mums) a chance to improve their fitness, get more fresh air and socialise, with their children and other adults.�

The walks are led by at least two volunteer leaders, one will set a good pace at the front but one will stay with the more gentle walkers so no one is left walking alone. Comfortable shoes are recommended to be worn as some walks can be off road, but all routes are checked to ensure they are suitable for young children and pushchairs.

longdown dairy farm

had a fantastic day with jo at longdown fairy farm but only found one fairy there - fantastic place we fed the goats and pigs and calves picked out our eggs for dinner tonight great place for the kids - even the kid in me - loved the trampolines!!!

but tonight i am back to sewing high vis vests for the wee ones

looks like we will be doing one of the wet weather routes next week - im thinking route four of it is torrential down pour - anyone have any ideas?

well jorja is one today!!! going to the park is out its chucking it down!!!!

How good is the weather! looks like we are will be able to do route 1 so slightly longer we- the route should take approx. 40 minutes

new walk wednesday

well if the weather keeps on staying as nice as it is on wednesday we will be doing one of the dry weather walks around one of the fields - this will give a little bit more of an arm work out ! Happy mothers day for all you mums out there (for tommorow that is lol)

Today there is a FREE"Make It For Mum" CRAFT EVENT at Merryfields Childrens Centre so hopefully i will see you there - it is running from 10am -12am

Doesnt count Jo!

Jo just isnt playing by the rules again loll her word was armadillo in her speech and she failed miserably to get the word in - it doesnt count now - your next word will be "starbright"

Today was a fantastic day- had another offer of sponsorship today so jo, steph and i will need to look into this and other great behind the scenes things are happening -

if you know of anyone that would be interested in doing one of our themed walks and talks please get in contact - we are hoping very soon to offer once a month to do themed talks on the field where we meet up early for a picnic and during this time have an informal talk or fun activity for the kids from a guest speaker and then for the guest speaker to join us on the walks

So far we have offers from sara from tiny talk and the childrens librarian to come out and do story time with the children we have also made contact with people to offer firesafety talks and road safety - so if you know of anyone that would be interested let us know!

also if anyone has any ideas on what we can improve on please let us know - we are very open to ideas - this is your group so tell us what we did right what we did wrong what changes you would like to see and new ideas you may like to have implemented

Armadillos !

Todays walk was amazing, Thank you to everyone who turned up. After today it feels like all the hard work has paid off it was really nice to see both new and familiar faces. I am confident that this is going to take off like we want it to and anyone wanting to help us expand please get in touch.

I look forward to seeing even more people next week.

meeting day

steph jo and i had a great get together to put finnishing touches to the paperwork today - amongst rescuing my frogs from the pond that is no more! and of course the kids running riot round the house !

As the kids were sooo good we took them to the park and had a chat with a nursery group that use the park and hopefully we can start incorporating a park visit for the kids along one of the walks we do

On the way back kiera got very tired and couldn't walk any more so steph and I apologise (if we were spotted) as we had to do lots of jumping skipping and wiggling over rainbows which kiera and abi thoroughly enjoyed - and we got home a lot quicker than we thought we would

Really looking forward to our second official walk tommorow - we will be doing route 3 tommorow should last about 40 minutes (please arrive early if it is your first walk to fill out a small form) please note every walker needs to sign in at the beginning of the walk

If all goes well we should have sara from tiny talk doing some fun sign language with the kids and lorraine from the PE dept of Neville Lovett School will be doing her first warm up with us - unfortunately on the launch day the school had a fire alarm go off and we had the press doing photos so it didnt go very smoothly - but i bet you didnt notice!

Please make sure you have water and hats if it is a hot day Jo got very sun burnt today lol sorry not laughing Jo!

new posters !

Steph has made up some great new leaflets and posters and ones for our cars as well - if anyone wants to advertise the group by displaying a poster in their car it would be a great help to the group - just ask or email and we will get one to you

web monkey had his first tattoo yesterday so photos will be coming at a later date - but he has added some to the photo album so take a look there!

Mums On The Move Launch Day !

It Finally came!
A resounding success -

How lucky were we the weather held out! - it was a fantastic day Megan cut the ribbon opening the walk 3 newspaper reporters/photographers arrived we were on The Quay Radio in the morning - we didnt hear it but other people did lol

Jo had a call yesterday from a newspaper for a telephone interview but i will let her tell you about it -

I cant wait for next week - sarah from tiny talk couldnt come to do the baby signing unfortunately on the launch day as she was ill but she says she will be joining us next week- Elaine very kindly stood in and got her guitar out and sang loads of songs with all the children and im not sure who enjoyed it more the adults or the children!

We are still looking for sponsorship for the much needed equipment we need to keep the group running - if you can help in any way please get in touch

We are also hoping to do some fundraising events including a raffle cake sale etc

eat the cake you buy and then you will have to walk it off afterwards! :)

I hope all enjoyed the day and look forward to seeing you next week :)

i have given her a word she has to put into her speech and she has given me a word i have to put in my speech - although technically im sure mine is two words!!!!

first person to put a comment here telling us what they think the word was gets a prize!

just a bit of fun - no idea what the prize will be yet but a prize there will be!

D Day approaches

well tommorow is nearly here - it has been a very busy couple of days we will be doing walk four tommorow which will last approx 30 minutes

please arrive early as it is launch day so there will be a couple of short speeches registration forms to fill and i know some of you will need to get away on time to do the school run

Sara from tiny talk will be there to entertain the children whilst you fill in the forms etc she will also be joining us on the walk to teach some signing as we go

if you can please phone 01329 829522 to let us know if you can come so we know rough numbers and how many walk leaders we need - however you dont have to do this

We are proposing to have a themed walk once a month so it will be fun for the kids more on this at a later date though!

Information day

so today was supposed to be a rest day but i had ants in my pants! so i went to collect the pamphlets and trying to collect local information for the launch day so you can have it to hand if you need it - all will be in the packs we are making up for the first 20 (these will get the pushchair bags plus goodies ) - staples have agreed to help us with a discount and kia cars phoned to say they may be able to sponsor us as well with high vis things so thankyou to them - and then so far re packed the bags - i have a feeling this may continue until the launch day as im sure i will find other fun stuff to go in them!

steph has done some great incentive cards for the kids - for every walk they do they get a square marked off when they reach a certain number they get a certificate and the first 20 to complete their cards will get a childs gift

webmonkey had also done this but was somewhat rushed so i have to say stephs looks better - sorry webmonkey! hehe

we have found a nature bingo game for one of the walks for the children to do - one for the older ones and one for the younger ones - the first to find all the things in the squares like a tree a bird etc gets a childs gift!

weather says it may rain on wednesday but that wont be stopping us - kids love the rain! and im just a big kid - it will be fun whatever the weather

right im off to get sewing again - night all

oh no i just realised jo and i are meant to be in town tommorow promoting the group and i think we have run out of flyers - jo do you have nay left lol :) oopsy!!!!

Another productive day

We have all the promotional bags made up now for the first 20 people to arrive (please arrive early to fill in the forms )

Steph has made the incentive cards and certificates for the children- those coming regularly will get a free gift for their wee one/s - plus some fun nature bingo cards!!!

Must say at this point that Steph has had great things happen which means she will not be able to join us on the walks until the end of april however she is working very hard behind the scenes on the posters leaflet designs etc we would very much like to thank her for everything she has and is and will be doing and look forward to her return

we have received with many many thanks from Hampshire county council the hi vis things - so the first 20 children will have a hi vis vest to use for the walk (please return these after each walk) and the incentive gifts for the children if they complete the amount of walks on the card -

I am currently sewing the smaller hi vis tabbards - i am getting faster they only take me an hour each now! lol

we must of course thank the sure start centre that we will be running (walking) out of, for supplying the promotional bags with printing and helping with photocopying, sticks for balloons, ribbon and letting us walk from their centre and of course letting us advertise within the centre

and fareham borough council for supplying the training and future training for the people that would like to volunteer as walk leaders (please let us know if you would be interested in this ) and their continued support on the phone and for the lovely goodies we have in the promotional bags - and the future support we will be receiving from them

i would like to thank everyone from the childrens centre for everything they have put into helping us and supporting us in their own special way - teresa ally georgina and lucy

and last but by certainly not least i would like to thank megan! and i know the others will as well - mums on the move would not even be here if it hadnt been for you - a very true inspiration! thankyou for giving the confidence you give people and planting the seed that has grown in all of us.

We are a non profit making community group run by volunteer mums (any dads or other family members want to help, you are more than welcome :)) if anyone would like to volunteer their services in anyway shape or form please contact us as all help is welcomed from fundraising to walk leaders to themed talks on the walks or any other skills you may bring to the group

it is now 1.26am and i must finish sewing this tabbard - sorry Jo technically we are into Friday lol and i know im supposed to be having a day off today lol yeah right! he he you should see my list of things to do - i just cant help it :)

Everythings coming together

Great news, Sara from tiny talk, is going to be joining us on wednesday, singing before hand and doing some signs along the walk. We have had another day of working hard, thank you to everyone who has been working hard promoting and getting organised, not long now x

hectic day!!

Training Day!

well training day has arrived sent my eldest to school and webmonkey has taken the day off work to look after jorja so i can go - when i get back i shall be fully trained to run the group - woohoo!

After today we will be sewing the hi vis vests - my first one took me an hour and a half so im looking forward to doing the others and getting quicker - they look good though (even if i do say so myself!)

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the start date and dont forget to arrive early to fill out the forms

steph is round and eventually we will be leaving to test the routes out time them and fill out all the paperwork! that and a load of photocopying - not much else to say other than it is my hubby and our 12 year anniversary of when we got together today!!!! woohoo
